This winter recruitment period is typically a time of intense rumour and possible major deals. Several notable footballers are being linked with moves out of their current clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the key figures that might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward available, it appears an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Latest reports point to the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his services. Other suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to alternative options, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late bid.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer move to Anfield collapsing. With his deal due to run out in the summer, January is the club's final opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, including City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, particularly given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has had first-team minutes limited at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the London club would be open to a sale for the correct valuation, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at approximately £40m.

R. Neves

This Portugal playmaker might be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça following the coach Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit looks highly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. This teenager is widely tipped to make a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
