The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
